As a yearly activity in honor of a local hero, Senator Tomas Valenzuela Confesor, the Local Government Unit conducts the Search for 10 Outstanding Teachers in the Municipality of Cabatuan, Search for 10 Outstanding Secondary School Students and Search for 10 Outstanding Elementary School Pupils for School Year 2010-2011.

The Search Committee is chaired by Honorable Fe V. Tobias, Sangguniang Bayan Member and Chairman of the Committee on Education. The selection was made possible through the cooperation of the panel of judges, namely, Dr. Betty Rile, Prof. Ruth Gelvezon, Prof. Jonathan Glorial, Dr. Alona Belarga, Assoc. Prof. Ignacio Tibajares, Jr., Assoc. Prof. Emellie Palomo, Assoc. Prof. Ma. Elena Bernadette Hojilla, Mr. Radly Mar Simpao, Prof. Verna Jade Janay, Prof. Myra Angelie Oliveros, and Prof. Redjie Palmos.

The contenders for Outstanding Teachers were subjected to essay writing, interview and teaching demonstration. Their co-curricular activities were also considered in the evaluation. As for the secondary students and elementary pupils, the nominees underwent an examination, an interview and evaluation of their co-curricular activities. The recognition of the outstanding teachers, students and pupils will be on March 2, 2011, during the Program after the Parade in celebration of the 120th Birth Anniversary of Senator Tomas Valenzuela Confesor.

The Ten Outstanding Teachers are:

2. Mrs. Monica S. Baello – Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School
3. Mr. Nestor B. Coo – Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School
4. Mrs. Rona S. Jalique – Tiring National High School
5. Mrs. Lalaine O. Tronco – Cabatuan Central Elem. School, the most outstanding in Elementary Level
6. Mr. Rosendo Baludio – Cabatuan Central Elem. School
7. Mrs. Cecilia A. Moscardon – Tiring Central Elem. School
8. Mrs. Catherine V. Taleon – Cabatuan Central Elem. School
9. Mrs. Julie Ann G. Oñate – Ito Elementary School
10. Mrs. Ma. Luzel T. Adolfo – Tiring Central Elem. School
